The establishment of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Abbottabad Board, stemmed from the division of the Peshawar Board in 1990, governed by the North West Frontier Province Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act 1990. Operating from its dedicated premises on Murree Road, Abbottabad, the primary objective of the board is to conduct Matric (9th and 10th) and Intermediate (11th and 12th) examinations within a conducive environment. It bears the responsibility of overseeing all Matriculation and Intermediate assessments. The Abbottabad Board has secured its place and made significant contributions to the educational landscape with its robust examination protocols and regulations. As an autonomous body, the board operates independently.
Traditionally, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbottabad Board conducts Matric (9th and 10th) level exams and Intermediate (11th and 12th) level exams annually in March and April, respectively, attracting a considerable number of participants each year. Typically, BISE Abbottabad announces the date sheet for these exams one month in advance. However, due to the ongoing pandemic situation, the Date Sheet for the year 2024 has been adjusted, with the date sheet for Matric and Intermediate exams set to be released in July. Students who may have received lower marks in the 9th Class need not be disheartened as they still have an opportunity to enhance their overall percentage in the upcoming 10th-Class examinations.
